So it seems my Portuguese could use a little more work. Unlike some of my rock star classmates, I did not get what I needed on my language test. 6 more weeks for me. Not ideal, but not the end of the world either. I am working hard to make sure I speak the language to the professional level that FSI wants.
For now though, I am in ConGen. It’s a class that teachings one about the basics of the consular world. After all, I will be doing a consular tour in Porto Alegre. This video gives you an idea of what I will be doing the next 2 years only in Portuguese!).
After ConGen, I will go to FACT in West Virginia, which I am really looking forward to!
Back to Portuguese after all of that, although I am still practicing during the weeks now. It is a lot. If you are reading this blog, know that FSI is a great institution but very challenging and demanding. Becoming an FSO is everything you think it will be and more!
Had a great time at the Sunset Hills Winery yesterday. Nice to take a little break and enjoy life!
As always, thanks for reading!
Thank you Rob for the update – I have to say that being more informed is making me very nervous but you are in Gods hands and that I can rely on.
So glad you had some down time on Labor Day, looks as if you relaxed and had some fun with very good people.
