Been traveling around the country with my new beautiful wife (wedding post coming soon) for almost a month now. The one thing that has hit me is that social media and the 24/7 news cycle is a complete menace on our psyche and society. We are not solving our problems by consistently knowing what is going on and what our neighbor, brother, uncle we only see once in a while thinks about those events.
At 37, I am old enough to remember life without social media, the internet, cell phones and the 24/7 news cycle. It was better then. Sure we keep in touch with ease now, but this stuff is ultimately tearing us apart more than it is unifying us.
With that, this trip has brought me to the conclusion that I am done with politics and a host of other matters on social media. I am going to have the personal disciple and resolve to only post pictures and be positive in my scaled back use of social media. WE CHOOSE how we use it, if we use it at all.
Otherwise it is not social media we are using; it is social menace.
