Just popping in to say that A-100 is a rewarding and intense training program for new diplomats.

I suggest for those who get selected, to realize that the first 6 weeks are very busy.  Many nights I am reading, studying or doing homework.  But it is totally worth it.  Flag day is less than a week away, and I am really excited.

I THINK I will end up in Latin or South America, but who knows.  I will be sure to post pictures and write all about it next weekend.  The week after that, we get officially sworn in and there is talk that it will be freshly sworn in Secretary of State, Mr. Rex Tillerson.  What an honor that would be.  We shall see.

Some moving words from his welcome message:  “The individuals who comprise this department are among the finest public servants in the world. Many of you serve our nation abroad and have served our nation abroad. State Department staffers in the field are not just conduits for policies and plans; you are our emissaries of our nation and the ideals we stand for. When people see you, they see America.”

As always, thanks for reading and stopping by.

  1. You will love it, but may get homesick; having been in the military gives you the advantage of a taste of that.
    Enjoy Brazil and congratulations.
